CONVENTION CENTRE AND EXHIBITION PARK

- Convention Centre - Place de Bordeaux

Built in 1976 (the Erasme wing) then extended in 1988 (the Schweitzer wing), the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès (Convention Centre) of Strasbourg has been renovated and expanded, with its surface area increasing from 30,000 m² to 50,000 m² in September 2016.

Surrounded by a stainless-steel peristyle which blends in harmoniously with the pre-existing structures and the new wing, the centre has had a major facelift and now conveys a more coherent image. Its renovation has also been accompanied by improvements to its energy performance (with the BBC label for the new parts and the THPE label for the existing parts).

Its new features include:

- The Erasme amphitheatre: 1,840 places (fully renovated and equipped with new seating)

- The Schweitzer amphitheatre: 1,200 places (including 300 extra places)

- The Cassin amphitheatre: 520 places (brand-new room perfectly suited to hosting conventions)

- creation of new meeting rooms near the amphitheatres, giving a total capacity of 2,400 places (compared to 1,700 places previously)

- The creation of a 3,000 m² multifunctional and divisible "Rhin" hall to host exhibitions, gala evenings and conferences)

- The creation of the 2,000 m² "Etoile" restaurant area (divisible into 3 separate areas)

This new generation centre will place the City of Strasbourg and the Eurométropole among the leading European cities for conventions and business events.

- Exhibition Park

In 2021, a new exhibition centre with a total surface area of 58,000 m² will be opening alongside the Conference Centre. Blending in perfectly in a huge area devoted to conferences, exhibitions and service sector activities, it will meet demanding requirements concerning both functionality and sustainable development, with its attractive aesthetic features ensuring that it helps further enhance Strasbourg’s image as an international metropolitan area.
