Alsatian costumes, fabrics with a tale to tellReturn
Description : From well before the 19th century and through to the 20th century, a huge variety of costumes were developed in Alsace. These are the result of an extraordinary cultural diversity uniting yet opposing town dwellers and country folk, often defining and expressing the social class, region or religion of their wearers. Much of Alsace’s social and economic life can be interpreted through its costumes, which is the subject of this exhibition.
