Happy 20 - MAMCS 20th Birthday

 Return

Description : For its 20 years, MAMCS has made an original invitation to the FAILE group, a duo of artists who live in Brooklyn (USA): use the museum’s facades as a canvas. Their artistic creation offers visitors and passers-by a large and unique 1,000 m2 mural painting characterised by different influences, from decorative art to pop art, from typographic research to the influence of American comic strips. The glass wall of Strasbourg’s station and one of the trams circulating around the city will be decorated by the group too. Various artistic interventions of street art, by other artists who have been invited, will take place in the city starting from May 2018 and will create an urban path across the city at the end of the process. In autumn, Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos will work on transforming one of the museum’s halls in an extravagant lounge where objects acquire extraordinary powers. Starting from the ordinary, her works plunge us in an alternative world, whether it be disturbing, playful or enchanted, dragging us in a fantastic story that has no room for dullness.
