The aim of the exhibition is to show how Strasbourg became a laboratory in which new ideas and forms emerged from cross-referencing and cross-fertilisation between German, French, and more generally, European cultures.   It shows the remarkable artistic blossoming of the decorative arts, spurred on by budding urbanisation, as well as the emergence of a top-ranking European University, with its illustrious researchers, teachers and students.
