Heterotopias. Avant-gardes in Contemporary ArtReturn
In response to the Aubette décors made in 1928 by Theo Van Doesburg, Jean Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, the exhibition being held at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, "Heterotopias. Avant-gardes in Contemporary Art", proposes to link the founding concepts of the 1920s artistic and architectural avant-gardes with the works of ten contemporary artists responding to this period. The reception of Modernist utopias by avant-gardes in our own time is a recurring feature of contemporary creation which in turn rejects, copies, diverts or reassesses Modernist origins.
